Search Engine Optimisation is the term often used to describe the online processes used to get more people to visit a website. There are three generic ways that this may be achieved:
- Optimising the text and images on a website, as well as its metatags and the actual structure, layout and naming convention of pages;
- Inbound links from other websites, and;
- Pay-per-click advertising.
The first is by far the most involved with the actual website itself. However, there can be a tendency by some people to optimise for the sake of optimisation, rather than to make the webpage both findable and useful. That is why the Control System has been set up in a way to make it both easy and useful when making your website attractive to the search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo.
As the search engines become more intelligent they tend to prefer useful, timely and meaningful information over contrived and out-of-date content. The fact you may update your website at will means that it can always be kept up-to-date. Also, because you know your business, market and what your competitors are up to, you can make it very relevant. We find that our clients no longer think about how to use their website. Now they think how they can use the website to grow their business.
In additon to the ease with which your website may be kept up-to-date, interesting and relevant to both people and search engines, the Control System allows you to easily see and modify the relevant meta tags. These are used to varying degrees by different search engines, but many websites fail to address these basic issues, leaving the client invisible to people searching the internet.
